Inside the clip, Mendes discusses how he was elevated watching Bond which "Casino Royale" convinced him the great 007 movie had been possible. Notice how he gained no mention of the "Quantum of Solace." The omission is only able to hint within the new direction for your series, hopefully from trying to deal with the hyper-kinetic fast punching of Jason Bourne. It blog doesn't reveal much about "Skyfall" itself, but we have some small glimpses of Difficulties back as Bond using what seems as an abandoned European electro club. We view mostly his silhouette while he progressively stalks along with his standard Walther PPK ready to strike. Employing Mendes for the job certainly signals a considerably needed slowing down lower lower, as if the studio required directly into hardcore Bond fans and mentioned, "Pump the brakes." "Casino Royale" struck a chord because of the quantity of cooler, tension-filled moments and outright action, together with a psychological connection that was real. Mendes is obviously not used to action, nevertheless the guy features a natural eye for stunning pictures and could clearly handle an individuals element. The director hasn't satisfied all of the fans though, with a lot of afraid "Skyfall" could become too talky from the Bond, but it becomes an pricey action film. It wouldnt are actually greenlit without correct volume of action. Once again, during the pre-show for the 84th Academy Awards, mothers of nominees will discuss insights into their kids. Featured will be George Clooney’s mom, Melissa McCarthy’s mom, Gary Oldman’s mom, plus others.”Great fun,” an insider tells me. (Especially if they say anything that embarrasses their kids…) Last year, theOscars also featured the nominee’s mothers who took to Twitter in the lead up to the Oscars and during the show. That’s when the term ‘Mominees” was first coined, andmoms of James Franco, Jeremy Renner, Mark Wahlberg, Mark Ruffalo and others were enlisted. Those moms, too, wereinterviewed on TV for the Oscar pre-show. For years Hollywood’s marquee names have been escoorting their moms to the Academy Awards. Winners’ speeches almost always thank their parents right alongside their agents, managers, and lawyers. In 2011, the opening monologue featured both Anne Hathaway’s mother and James Franco’s grandmother in cameos from their seats. (Hathaway’s mom critiqued her daughter’s posture, while Franco’s grandma expressed glee at the sight of “Marky Mark”.)Abbd last year’s Best Director winner Tom hooper said in his acceptance speech: “Listen to your mother.” Looks like Grazer and Mischer took that advice to heart this year.

Oscars: Jesse McTeer Albert Nobbs
Round the morning of Oscar nominations, most stars wait nervously to hear their unique title introduced. But Jesse McTeer, Best Supporting Actress nominee for Albert Nobbs, was wanting to hear another title first: Glenn Close, who stars as Nobbs and contains spent thirty years trying to create this unusual tale for the silver screen. The British actress got her wish: Close was nominated for top actress, and so the two can savor as soon as together. She spoken with AwardsLine contributor Diane Haithman. AWARDSLINE: You're nominated for just about any Golden Globe for representing Hubert, a girl living just like a guy in 1800s Ireland, but Close wasn't nominated for playing Nobbs, furthermore a girl masquerading just like a guy. You are also inside the cast of Shuts Foreign exchange series Damages. You will want breathed a sigh of relief when both of you made the cut for your Oscars. McTEER: If she hadnt been nominated I'd have cut my arms. Oh, yeah. That might have been horrible. I wouldnt have wanted it either. I used to be watching the bulletins round the sofa inside the eco-friendly room within the Todayshow, which i was only type of holding my breath to find out whether Glenn was nominated, and he or she was. I Rapidly was very excited. AWARDSLINE: I guess for just about any film similar to this, honours mean greater than they're doing for, say, successful film like the Help. Will be the nominations alone enough to spur box office for Albert Nobbs? McTEER: Absolutely. All it takes is ideal for people to become advised from this. Theyll say, “Ooh, gosh, if it's got nominations, it ought to be great.” Weve already won. AWARDSLINE: We spoken to seal just before the Oscar nominations, and he or she spoke in regards to the challenge of promoting the film but nevertheless maintaining some facets of surprise, particularly in the problem from the character. McTEER: Nowadays were on the internet — you can't keep things secret in the film any more. Whenever you realize the secrets out, you might as well opt for this rather than pretend that it's not there. AWARDSLINE: Glenn known towards the scene that you reveal yourself just like a lady to Nobbs since the surprise appearance from the incredible breasts. Its a very bold move, so complete opposite of the way the timid Mr. Nobbs would behave. Perhaps you have have hesitation in doing that scene? McTEER: No, not whatsoever. I tight on this being as funny after we will make it, like smoking the cigarette, to make sure that the whole factor was funny instead of, “Oh, my God!” — striking you inside the mind getting a hammer. Plus it wasnt for reasonable thrills. Everyone else must understand Albert, the notion that Albert might be uncovered by somebody, and the way frightening that was for him. AWARDSLINE: You've mentioned that in creating the level of smoothness of Hubert you tried to look the size of possible, to think about as much space as you can. Are there any costuming or camera techniques played within the contrast from the stature and Glenn Shuts Albert? McTEER: The simple truth is, she is really simply really little, and Im really tall. Im 6 ft . 5-inch and shes 4-ft-1 — no, but shes 5-ft-4 if shes lucky. And he or she was wearing flat shoes, which she normally won't do. But because shes so effective, you consider her to become bigger than she is really. I furthermore bought quite large boots, with quite large heels. Which I made use of a lot of padding. AWARDSLINE: In interviews, Glenn always seems to see Albert Nobbs while he. Can you reference your character, Hubert, as they? McTEER: He. Really. Yeah. In my opinion Hubert just considers Hubert as Hubert. I'm speaking about, if she'd a choice she'd still live just like a guy, therefore i think Hubert considers herself weight reduction male than female. A Few Things I preferred to produce was somebody that was a little the most effective of both cell phone industry's, who had all the great qualities of manliness, you understand, that freedom as well as the confidence as well as the Alpha maleness, however the great qualities of femaleness, the being careful of and kindness. AWARDSLINE: Your character can be a more compact amount tragic than poor Mr. Nobbs. McTEER: My character isn't tragic whatsoever. He suffers an urgent situation, however is not a tragic character clearly. In my opinion Hubert is upbeat. AWARDSLINE: Even though now weve seen you within the Golden Globes together with other honours shows, people will certainly be curious that will help you within your evening gown in comparison as to the they'll another stars. The that are you wearing factor will probably be elevated to a different level. McTEER: Yeah, because the difference will probably be amazing. AWARDSLINE: Possibly you've written a previous address? McTEER: I havent even found a dress-up costume. Just let me overcome now. (McTeer photo: Getty Images)

Rankings Corporate Jungle: The Situation Of Vanishing Live Nielsen Audiences
Is week a glimpse into the long run of the items broadcast TV’s fast national rankings may be like? All week, HUT (homes using television) levels have been receiving componen as well as slightly greater than a week ago (except for Valentine’s Day.) But, there has been massive across-the-board rankings declines every evening. When the total number of individuals relaxing in front of Televisions continues to be roughly exactly the same and they weren't watching broadcast shows, what were they watching? Definitely not cable series, a few of which also published declines now. I believe a footnote within the HUT definition may contain the answer to the puzzle. Additionally to reside viewing, additionally, it makes up about watching people pre-recorded shows on playback. The idea is the fact that a blockbuster TV event such as the high-ranked Grammys on Sunday produced a “tsunami effect,” with individuals making up ground on formerly recorded shows in addition to possibly replaying the Grammys, rather than watching that evening’s programs. That perpetuated for any couple of days, particularly with Valentine’s Day within the mix when lots of people lost, creating one more backlog of shows on their own Digital recording device. The idea is based on dimensions that registered a greater-than-usual degree of playback viewing now. Additionally, it could explain the greatest mind-scratcher which was the Monday rankings, which featured probably the most extensive across-the-board rankings declines, including within the unflappable CBS comedy block, which in fact had been heavily marketed throughout the Grammys the evening before. (BTW, Nielsen’s explanation in reaction to queries in the systems concerning the lower Monday rankings was it was Lincoln subsequently’s birthday. The number of individuals appreciated that Monday was Lincoln subsequently’s birthday?!) Also meant for the playback theory, things started to visit normal last evening within the 9 PM and 10 PM hrs. There have been still inexplicable internet deficits at 8 PM — CBS’ The Large Bang Theory did a 5./15 in 18-49, lower 11% from a week ago, Fox’s The American Idol Show (4.6/13) was lower 12%, while NBC and ABC were on componen with a week ago within the hour — Wipeout (1.5/4) was flat, while 30 Rock (1.4/4) and Parks And Entertainment (1.7/5) were near to the demo delivery of the hourlong 30 Rock a week ago (1.6/4). But at 9 PM, things started to stabilize. Yes, ABC’s Gray’s Anatomy (3.1/8) was lower 23% to some season low and CBS’ Person Of Great Interest (2.9/7) and NBC’s Work (2.2/6) or more Through The Night (1.5/4) were lower 12%. But a week ago, they broadcast from the Finder on Fox (2.3 in 18-49) versus. the 2nd hour of yankee Idol (5.) now, therefore the total 18-49 rating within the hour continued to be roughly exactly the same. Ditto for 10 PM, where CBS’ The Mentalist (2.8/7) was lower 7% along with a Grimm rerun (.7) fetched half the rating a Voice encore did last Thursday, but ABC’s Private Practice (2.6/7) increased 18% from a week ago having a Gray’s Anatomy mix-over. When the theory is correct, people ought to be all swept up on their own Digital recording device viewing through the finish from the weekend and Live+24 Hour rankings should go back to normal in a few days, while Live+7 amounts for a week ago should spike. Otherwise, Nielsen may have some serious trying to explain to do.

Social TV: Cougar Town Creator Offers Ponies, Drunken Raves to Loyal Fans
Courteney Cox, Cougar Town Cougar Town creator Bill Lawrence will do just about anything to get people to watch his show, which returns to ABC on Feb. 14 after an eight-month hiatus. He's offered to buy fans ponies and throw drunken raves at Disneyland if they promise to watch a 10-minute spoiler reel for the upcoming season. OK, so he was obviously kidding (we think), but all joking aside, Lawrence himself launched a serious social-media push to spread the word about the low-rated Cougar Town when traditional promotional methods - like commercials and talk-show appearances - weren't doing enough to see any significant change in ratings. For the last few months, he has used both Twitter and Facebook to reward fans with swag, exclusive content, and viewing parties, in the hope that it might actually have some impact on the fate of the show. "The exciting part is to see if we can move the dial just a couple little ticks," he says. "The difference for me between a 2.4 and a 2.6 rating is the difference between being renewed immediately, and having to wait until May to see what happens." So will his over-the-top social media crusade translate into better ratings? We asked Lawrence to weigh in on his expectations for his social-media gamble. What is it about social media that appeals to you?Bill Lawrence: The coolest thing about social media is that you can immediately see first-hand that people are actually getting it. Someone sent me a picture of a car they saw on the freeway that had "Cougar Town returns Feb. 14 at 8:30 on ABC" painted on its windows, after we asked people to do that on Twitter. It's so much nicer to have the visual representation.Aside from telling people to tune in, what message do you hope to get across?Lawrence: That the show isn't canceled! On a daily basis I get people who say, "I'm so bummed out Cougar Town is canceled," and I have to respond and say, "It's not actually. It's just been horribly handled by ABC." Also: It's the worst titled show in the history of television. It's not about an old gal chasing a younger guy for three years.Social TV: Will White Collar use Twitter to let fans decide the show's ending? But how do you even begin to explain that to people who have never watched?Lawrence: We put together a big clip reel of the show, which is filled with spoilers. I'm not a big spoiler guy, but it's a tool that someone can show their friends and say, "Hey, it's not about cougars. Watch this clip and if you laugh at all, you might actually dig it." As a group, the cast is sending out the reel in an email to all our acquaintances. We're asking them to do us a solid, and almost like a chain email, send it to 10 other people. And for the people who are already Cougar Town fans - what are you doing to keep them hooked?Lawrence: Since the days of Scrubs, I've always felt that you should reward loyalty with extra content and access to the cast and crew. So we're sending do-it-yourself party kits to anyone who posts a picture of themselves on Twitter or Facebook with 25 other people holding a sign saying, "We Want a Cougar Town Party." We're shipping them swag and episodes from this season that haven't aired. I'm sure if people posted them online I'd be arrested. At the end of the night, a cast member gets on Skype with them for 15 minutes to answer questions.Social TV: See why Nathan Fillion gets a kick out of TwitterIs there any part of you that worries all of this is a huge waste of time?Lawrence: You could easily make the argument, "I may have convinced a few hundred thousand people to check this show out, but if none of them are in Nielsen, then who cares? I've never met a Nielsen family in my life." But if fans of Cougar Town are buzzing about it so much so that one or two Nielsen families watches it when it's on TV, then... Do I think it will work? I don't know. But I would be bummed out if the show didn't survive and I didn't feel like we had tried everything. The difference between staying on and getting canceled is so slight these days, and there's a chance that you can actually use social media to move a dial. I'm not nervous though. I've been doing this forever. All of this crazy campaigning that you're doing - did the network give you a hard time about it?Lawrence: When we started, ABC was wary of what we were doing, but they've since become very supportive, and I think that as a network, they'd love it if their showrunners were all out marketing their own shows.Social TV: How Survivor's Jeff Probst bridged the gap between CBS and its audienceDo you think that eventually all showrunners are going to be utilizing social media like this?Lawrence: It will either move the dial a bit, and it will be cool, and people will try it in the future... or nothing will change, we'll go away, and no one will ever have to do it again.Check out the 10-minute spoiler reel for Season 3 of Cougar Town. Bill Lawrence on WhoSay Cougar Town premieres Tuesday, February 14 at 8:30/7:30c on ABC.

Gossip Girl Wedding Day Aftermath! Scoop on Everything That Happens Next
Wallace Shawn, Leighton Meester, John Shea [WARNING: The following story contains major spoilers from Monday's episode for Gossip Girl, "The Princess Bride." Read at your own risk.] She did it. She got married and became a princess. And now the avalanche of questions... Is Gossip Girl really going to make Dan and Blair happen? Did new media magnate Nate just fall for another pretty girl (who happens to be the real Charlie Rhodes)? Would the reformed Chuck have sent that video to Gossip Girl? Will he and Serena decide to put themselves out of their misery when they find out Blair ran off with LonelyBoy? Did the royal lapdog Prince Louis actually grow a pair? Is Georgina the real Dread Pirate Roberts Gossip Girl? Ed Westwick tired of "lovesick puppy" Chuck, ready for Gossip Girl to end So many burning questions lingering about Monday's 100th episode of Gossip Girl, written by executive producer Josh Safran and fittingly titled, "The Princess Bride." Fortunately, Safran and fellow series boss Stephanie Savage were on hand last week to tease and tantalize reporters who got an early peek at the episode about everything that is to come. Get cozy - they had a lot to say! (And for the record, we're so sticking with the theory that Georgina is not Gossip Girl.) Are you really going to cave to fans who want Dan and Blair together? Josh Safran: Cave to fans -- I don't think we view it as caving to fans but you know that story is going to go in an interesting direction, sure. Is it a story you weren't planning to tell until you saw the fan reaction to the two of them? Stephanie Savage: No. I think from the beginning we always felt like there was a really strong connection between the two of them. Actually, the first episode Josh ever wrote for us had one of my favorite scenes of the series that was a Dan-Blair scene where she's confiding in [him] her feelings about her mother and [there was] the idea that these two people who -- one is Queen B, one LonelyBoy -- actually have a lot in common. Compared to their other friends, they had this sense of intellectual curiosity, they were interested in things outside their own world... We always knew they were going to become friends, but there was a question if there was ever going to be more than that. Safran: And I think that question still remains, but we definitely are going with that story. We knew last year, too, when we got them connected in a new way. We knew we were going to plan to come back to that connection... It was always like, that's a weird thing to do, to go to that place you thought you'd never go with kind of at one point your sworn enemy. I think that's why they pulled back but they still have been thinking about it ever since. What are Blair's feelings toward Dan at this point - she just found out he wrote these vows and yet she keeps calling him any time anything goes wrong in her life. Safran: I think Dan probably feels the same way you think he does, and at a certain point he probably won't be able to stand feeling that anymore and force Blair to not treat him that way - or not treat him at all, basically. Where did Dan and Blair go? She's fled the country before... Safran: You will learn that at the top of the next episode... They go some place we've never shot before, but have always wanted to shoot and it was really complicated but a super-fun, big, great set piece. And it also has, in my mind, some of the best comedy we've ever done. The next episode is very funny. What does this mean for Chuck and Blair? Safran: Chuck and Blair are never over. There's always been a thorn in the side of Chuck somewhere, maybe it'll be Dan, maybe it'll be someone else. But how much can a man take? Chuck should walk away at some point, right? Safran: I don't know if it's "how much can a man take?" It's a very tortured relationship for both of them. And I think in a weird way some people love that torture and sometimes people can't stand that torture. That's gonna be sort of the balance for what happens [next]. Will Chuck become a bad boy again? Safran: Anytime anyone reforms, it's tested. But we were very conscious to make sure that Chuck did not slide back after Episode 12. We do believe that Chuck has learned, and is still continuing to learn, that his evolution is real, that it's not so easily lost or so easily gained. Although he will continue to be tested, I definitely think he approaches these tests now from, "I really don't want to slide back," as opposed to, "Oh, it's so easy to slide back, I'm just going to go do it." 6 things to expect from the Gossip Girl wedding Can you talk about Chuck and Serena's reactions to Blair and Dan running off together? What's their next step? Safran: The next episode is a direct pick-up and is the same night. The reactions are very much immediate... You're going to see them learn, you're going to see what they do about it, how it impacts them. Definitely the story of that next episode is Chuck and Serena together dealing with Blair and Dan together. What's going to happen now that Serena has professed her love for Dan? Safran: Obviously, it's going to rankle Serena when she discovers what's happening between Blair and Dan. But also these characters are growing up; you don't necessarily go to Defcon 4 when you find these things out. You try to deal with them maybe in more of a rational, direct, honest manner. But that doesn't mean you can't also go to Defcon 4 after that. Given Serena's dream in the beginning of the episode, seeing Dan choose Blair, did she already know on some level that Dan didn't love her back? Safran: I wouldn't say it's about Dan not loving her back, but I would say Serena feels like she might be losing things in her world right now to other things. If in your dreams everything isn't exactly representational, just the idea that the ground is shifting under Serena... Louis just became really interesting! Did you know you wanted him to take this turn? Safran: No, but we knew Blair was going to test him -- just being Blair would test anyone. Savage: And him being in our Upper East Side world would test him. Safran: We definitely always knew it would be him getting darker because the closer you're around to all this scheming, all these people, the more it starts to infect you. What we liked was that Blair and Louis were ultimately able to reconnect and look at each other from a good place and yet, this was just the final straw... For her to go to that place on their wedding day, it was just too much. Is Blair still moving forward with being concerned over this pact with God now that Louie has turned on her? Safran: In the next episode, that will be answered. How will Blair's parents help out now, since they were such a big part of this episode? Safran: They're definitely involved in her story. They're dealing also with what's happened and in future episodes Blair seeks the counsel of her parents. So Georgina is behind this new Gossip Girl site - are we going to see retaliation from the original Gossip Girl? Safran: Georgina is behind this new Gossip Girl site -- is it a new Gossip Girl site? I don't know how to answer that question, sorry. How can I say if it's the old Gossip Girl if Georgina is Gossip Girl? We will not answer that question. Georgina, whether or not she's the old or new Gossip Girl, is going to try and take over this role then? Safran: I mean, she has this role! Now that you see she has this role you're invited into this process that for years you haven't seen. Seeing that process of just how Gossip Girl gets her tips and what she does to get her tips I think is really fun. Savage: You get to go behind the curtain with the wizard and see. Did Georgina upload the video of Blair? Safran: That is a major plot point that runs for a couple [of episodes]. Is she the one who texted with Nate in previous episodes? Safran: I'm not going to answer that question. Who will Georgina target next? Safran: Georgina will set her sights on everybody always. Georgina would take herself down if it got the biggest explosion. Gossip Girl "End of the Affair" postmortem: Burning questions answered! Are you nervous about fan reaction to Georgina being Gossip Girl? Safran: Totally. You're always nervous, but we still feel confident about that. Savage: And where the story is going. Safran: Like Stephanie said, the curtain has been lifted so now you're going to see more. When you see more, the picture will become clearer. What are Georgina's motives? Is she just evil? Savage: More entertainment than evil. Entertaining herself. Safran: Maximum damage just makes her laugh, so the more she can laugh, the better. Are Nate and Serena still going after Gossip Girl? Safran: The Gossip Girl storyline continues the whole year. A plot with Gossip Girl will continue [next season], but whether this arc with Gossip Girl concludes or not, I will not say. Are you going to develop more for the real Charlie Rhodes? Safran: Absolutely. Where is Ivy hiding? Safran: That's a really good question and the fact that you asked that question, there's an answer in that. Does Nate have yet another new love on the horizon? Safran: Nate has had so many problems with his family that when he meets somebody else who is probably dealing with similar things, he's actually in a position where he can help them and use what he's learned... The love on the horizon is a really interesting story for him and really allows him to emotionally mature. What can you say about the return of Elizabeth Hurley? Safran: Elizabeth is coming back. She comes back in a very delicious fashion. She'll give us sort of - the way she always does - a shot in the arm in the last third of the season. When she comes back, the Chuck Bass story and the Nate story will converge with Diana. What about Jack Bass? Safran: He comes back also in service of that same story. Did you think about bringing Eric back for the 100th episode? Safran: It's hard with Connor because his show shoots in Los Angeles and he's a regular. As much as we'd love to, there were so many moving pieces for a 100th episode that took place at a wedding, with hundreds of extras. To fit in another moving piece like that would be very difficult. Taylor is on tour. We had so many logistics to overcome, that that would've just added even more. Speaking of Little J, do you still think of storylines involving Jenny or Vanessa? Savage: Those characters are still very much out in the universe doing things. We still have a great relationship with both of those actresses. It would just be a matter of figuring out what the story is and then how to get them here. Literally, when we were talking about having Jenny come to Blair's wedding, Taylor was opening for Guns 'N Roses in Iceland. Safran: We also know, as writers, where they are. We could tell you right now where Jenny is. We keep alive the story of what they're doing. If we were able to get Taylor, maybe she would've made Blair's dress instead of Vera Wang. We would've had to know that months earlier. She's at fashion school in London. Savage: She's doing great. Safran: You'll hear where Eric is coming up. Have you had conversations with The CW about whether you'll be doing another season of Gossip Girl? Savage: Well, we're not writing a series finale this year. Has the network actually said you're safe, or are you just hoping? Savage: We've checked in with our bosses to make sure we're not shooting ourselves in the foot. Safran: They know we're not writing a series finale. What does reaching 100 episodes mean to you? Savage: It's a big deal. It's emotional. It's very, very hard to get to 100 episodes. The O.C. got to 93 episodes, Chuck got to a heartbreaking 91 episodes. One hundred episodes in our industry is considered the standard of success, of achievement. To be able to get there, especially on a serial drama, especially on a show about young people, especially on a cycle where there was a writers strike, it's a big deal. Safran: I kept saying from Day 1, we're going to get to 100. This will totally make it there. Additional reporting by Natalie Abrams.

Keep on Top of Talent Agency and Casting Office Contacts
No cheating.Which of the following answers below is the correct response to the question?Paul Russell Casting's current land mail address is:A. 159 West 25th Street, Suite 1209, NY, NYB. 525 Eighth Avenue, Suite 1005, NY, NYC. 38 West 38th Street, 2nd Floor, NY, NYD.330 West 38th Street, Suite 1208, NY, NYE. None of the aboveF. I have no clueRetain your answer for later. If your response is based on any of the below scenarios, you will likely have the wrong address. You're wasting money and valuable time not just in sending marketing materials to my office but also for many of your talent agency and casting director mailings. If you're buying pre-printed mailing labels that are advertised as having the current addresses of talent agencies and/or casting offices affixed to them or CDs with similar imprinted digital information. If you rely on Internet "audition boards" and "actor-friendly-sites-for-a-fee" for finding the current addresses of talent agencies and/or casting offices. If you're purchasing non-fiction books on the entertainment industry that claim to have the most up-to-date contact information on agents and/or casting directors. Just how up-to-date can those entries be when the publish date on the cover page is a year or more past?Agents, casting directors, and other entertainment professionals are just like actors when it comes to maintaining semi-permanence of brick-n-mortar placement. The cardboard boxes for moving are always close at hand. An address for an agency or casting office that was valid yesterday is often vacant or occupied by another entity tomorrow. Why? Several reasons. Here are three.1. Real Estate is Expensive. Entertainment payouts are often modest to non-existent for the players behind the scenes. Agencies and casting (unless they are cash-rich corporations) routinely move from one office to another in order to survive financially. When office rents go up, the name plate on the talent reps' or casting directors' door comes down and is soon placed on the entry to a more budget-friendly abode.2. Film and TV Casting Directors are Nomadic. There are only a handful of screen casting directors that have a permanent, non-home office for which they are responsible for the rent. Many film and TV casting directors are freelancers who work from whatever industrial, gray cubicle the production company provides. Once the production wraps, the casting director picks up his or her laptop and other toys and moves on. The next tenant (often a civilian-based business) is left wondering why they are receiving actor headshots via land mail.3. Freelance Casting Directors Leverage the Home Office. Casting directors, unlike talent agents who are restricted by performers' unions, can work from anywhere, and many are abandoning formal offices. A sizeable percentage of casting directors, thanks to the Internet, now work from home offices. Personally, I enjoy looking at the trees out my back library window while my cats chase each other like rambunctious children as I scan actor rsums and headshots. My stress is less. But vacated offices by casting directors and representation are not the only challenge an actor faces in hitting their targets with marketing. There is frequent personnel turn-over.Casting and talent associates and assistants jump from office to office like a hyper game of checkers played by espresso-drunk monkeys. An agent at one office yesterday may today be working at another agency or have opened his or her own office. To know where the players of our game are, you must keep informed of the turn-over transitions. The lack of consistency for a valid contact address or current personnel leaves the actor who is wisely doing land-based mailings with a problem. How best to keep GPS-like watch with the entertainment nomads? There are only the following two reasonably assured accurate outlets for actors: "Call Sheet" (formerly known as "Ross Reports") and IMDBPro.com.[Note: Before going further here promoting "Call Sheet," "Back Stage" did not ask of me to solicit for them via this post, nor am I receiving compensation for my viewpoints. Now that that's out of the way let's move on.]"Call Sheet," published by "Back Stage," is released six times a year in both print and online versions. Prior to each publication, the "Call Sheet" editor updates contacts for the agents and casting directors listed. Actor-friendly web sites, pre-printed mailing label sellers, and other "resources" rip information from older versions of "Call Sheet" and then re-sell it to actors. Actors are paying others often peer actors for "used goods" that are continually flawed. Most of these re-sellers never update and/or make corrections. Like lazy actors who never bother to update their own mailing lists, the re-sellers offer information gathered once and then sell it many times. How do I know this? Because my office still receives mail (often on pre-printed labels) to the long ago abandoned addresses above. And the only reason my office still receives some of that out-dated, addressed mail is because the mail carrier at three of the past PRC locations above is the same and forwards to my present out-of-the-city address.Re-sellers of agent and casting director addresses aggravate an actor's quest for correct contact information further by often limiting the geography of the talent markets. If an actor wants contact information for agents and casting directors on both coasts, he or she usually must purchase that information separately. Sometimes, the re-sellers also force actors to purchase contacts for agents and contacts for casting directors separately. Actors are paying out wads of cash for outdated information.Whereas, with "Call Sheet," the actor gets every franchised agent and casting director across the country. That's IF an agency, agent, or casting office wishes to be listed. Most do as a professional courtesy to the industry. An added plus to "Call Sheet" is that sometimes an office will include a website and/or e-mail address. (The latter a precious commodity for actor marketing.)IMDBPro.com will have similar contact information for agents and casting directors. But updates and correct addresses are reliant upon someone from the talent agency or casting office manually typing the information and sending it out across the ether that is the Internet. This task is often overlooked. The penny-pinching actor may scoff at paying for contact information via "Call Sheet" and/or IMDBPro.com, thinking they can scoop the contact info for free from an Internet search engine. To those short-sighted scrapers I challenge them with this; Google "Paul Russell Casting" and just see how many contact addresses are returned. There will be several. Which one is the correct address? Only one website currently has my new address. All others will be incorrect. With postal rates constantly increasing and the economy forcing moves or office closures, an actor should update their mailing lists at least twice a year. Don't have a mailing list? Don't know how to mail-merge and regularly send-out both digital and hard marketing materials that get a response? If you answered to "no" to any of those questions bad actor. I know that readers of "ACTING: Make It Your Business" answered "yes" and are ahead of you in marketing if they apply themselves.Keep your contacts current. Avoid re-sellers. It's your career. Your business. You can either run it like a Fortune 500 company or piddle it away like a forgotten mom-n-pop convenience store. You're the one who is in charge. Do something. Now, the answer to the question "Paul Russell Casting's current land mail address is" is "E. None of the Above."If you got my office address wrong (which changed as of 1/1/2012), you know what you need to do. Be resourceful. Do your job as an actor which, in part, is to find reliable ways to find work.Paul Russell's career as a casting director, director, acting teacher and former actor has spanned nearly thirty years. He has worked on projects for major film studios, television networks, and Broadway. He is the author of "ACTING: Make It Your Business How to Avoid Mistakes and Achieve Success as a Working Actor." The BAFTA Nominations Are Here!
The Artist leads the packThe British AcademyFilm Award nominations are actually introduced, which is a great day being strong, quiet and French. Yup, The Artist takes charge with 12 nominations, hotly attacked by Mess Tailor Soldier Spy with 11 and Hugo with 9.Rather further out are MyWeek WithMarilyn, with six, and War Equine as well as the Help, each with five nods. Drive, The Iron Lady and HarryPotter As Well As The Deathly Hallows - Part 2 have four nods.Probably the large news here's that War Equine misses on the Best Film nomination, while Drivenips in rather - much less that's always an undesirable factor, since the more not-typically-awardsy films nominated for honours like these, the higher interesting. Which is applicable towards the Script nods for Bridesmaids and TheGuard. But no Olivia Colman jerk on her behalf revelatory submit Tyrannosaur? For shame! For nearly any real drama and excitement, we advise searching lower for the technical groups. It's Joe Letteri versus Joe Letteri inside the Visual Effects round!Could he split their very own election?! Isn't it illegal to ensure that there to become BAFTAceremony without no less than a nomination for Colleen Atwood in Best Costume? Which is it really us or does the clash in the legendary Dante Ferreti for Hugo as well as the wonderful Stuart Craig for HarryPotter in ProductionDesign appear just like a clash in the leaders? The British AcademyFilm Honours will probably be kept in London onFebruary 12, within the Royal Opera House. SAG-AFTRA Merger Plan Completed
A proper intend to merge the Screen Stars Guild and also the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists has finally been drafted, but people of both entertainers unions will need to wait a while longer before they are able to see clearly. SAG and AFTRA introduced early Monday morning the Group for just one Unionthe so-known as G1, a joint panel of leaders in the two unionshas decided a merger package that'll be given to and chosen on by SAGs national board of company directors at its Jan. 27 meeting and AFTRAs national board at its Jan. 28-29 meeting. The unions plan to withhold particulars from the package until following the board conferences.Monday morning marked the start of a marathon meeting for that G1 that started on Jan. 7. The aim of the nine-day session was to finalize the merger proposal, which should be authorized by the unions particular national boards prior to it being delivered to people for ratification.
